ROTOR: modular cranksets and power meters built to evolve

Forged and CNC-machined aluminium cranks, carbon arms, round and oval chainrings, power meters: ROTOR lets you upgrade each component separately. In 2026, that modular system remains a compelling reason to choose the brand.

Why choose ROTOR?

One modular system: cranks, spindle, spider and chainrings

ROTOR designs and machines precise, durable and lightweight drivetrain components. Aluminium engineering remains central to its expertise, with ALDHU Carbon arms extending the range for weight-focused builds.

Its direct-mount system separates the crank arms, spindle, spider or power meter, and chainrings. This architecture helped set a direction that other brands have since followed. You can replace individual parts or upgrade your setup, provided the interfaces are compatible.

  • Interchangeable components: change gearing, crank length, crank material or add a power meter with a compatible assembly.
  • Wide choice of builds: road, climbing, gravel, TT and track, with discipline-specific parts.
  • Easier upgrades and servicing: replace the part you need rather than an entire crankset.

Compatibility depends on Rotor generation, spindle, mounting interface, chainline and drivetrain. Rotor parts are not universally interchangeable.

Our recommended power meter in 2026

ROTOR INspider ROAD 2.0: detailed data, straightforward ownership

We recommend this rechargeable power meter to riders who want accurate total-power data, pedalling analysis and the flexibility to retain compatible Rotor crank arms.

A feature-rich power meter at around €350

With the power meter spider priced at around €350 (check the current product price), INspider 2.0 measures combined left- and right-leg power at the spider and provides cadence, estimated left/right balance, power-phase information, OCA/OCP data to help adjust Rotor Q-Rings, pedalling analysis and ANT+ / Bluetooth connectivity. Availability of advanced metrics depends on the head unit and app.

The same sensor can be used with compatible VEGAST, ALDHU and ALDHU Carbon crank arms. The road version accepts chainrings using the 110 × 4 BCD pattern.

Important: INspider measures total power and estimates left/right balance; it cannot measure each leg independently. Choose ROTOR 2INpower for a true independent left/right measurement.

Velo-Perso road testing: INspider V1 and V2

We used INspider V1 for several years, followed by INspider 2.0 throughout the 2025 season. The two generations gave consistent power readings, including during hard sprints around 1,500–1,600 W. V2's main improvements are weight, battery life, housing design and waterproofing.

Connection advice: we recommend ANT+ for outdoor head units. In our road tests Bluetooth was less stable, although it remains useful for compatible apps and indoor training. Advanced metric support varies by device.

ROTOR chainrings: choose the gearing, shape and mounting standard

Rotor NOQ round chainrings on a compatible Shimano Ultegra road crankset
Selected Rotor chainrings also fit compatible Shimano cranksets.

Change your chainrings, keep your crank arms

ROTOR chainrings combine accurate machining, a wide gearing range and several mounting standards. Start with crankset and chain compatibility, then choose tooth count and round or oval shape.

  • Round NOQ: familiar pedalling feel, predictable front shifting and plenty of gearing options.
  • Oval Q-Rings: adjust the effective gear during the pedal stroke; compatible builds offer OCP positioning. Results vary between riders.
  • Direct Mount Spiderings: integrated spider and chainring construction for a compact, light assembly.
  • Shimano-specific chainrings: change gearing on selected 11- and 12-speed Shimano cranksets without replacing the cranks.

A dependable choice for regular riding, accelerations, sprinting and easy drivetrain setup.

Rotor for the velodrome

ROTOR track cranksets: club riding, sprinting and pursuit

The track range uses the dedicated ROTOR Track30 architecture, with a short 30 mm spindle, 144 mm BCD five-arm spider, approximately 140 mm Q-factor and a 43 mm chainline in the configurations offered by Velo-Perso.

  • VEGAST Track: durable, accessible and versatile for clubs, track racing and premium fixed-gear builds.
  • ALDHU Track: CNC-machined crank arms, lengths starting at 150 mm in selected versions; our sprint, keirin and kilometre recommendation.
  • ALDHU Carbon Track: lightweight carbon arms; our preferred choice for individual and team pursuit.
  • 2INpower Track: true independent left/right measurement; limited remaining 172.5 and 175 mm units, subject to current stock.

Young track riders can change crank length as they grow; racers can swap chainrings to match the event. Track30 is a specific track standard: do not confuse it with a standard 30 mm road axle.

Other Rotor power-meter choices

INpower and 2INpower: two useful alternatives

INpower: lower-cost power training

The sensor is housed in the crank axle. It measures left-leg effort and extrapolates total power, offering an accessible route into structured training with watts.

Explore INpower cranksets →

2INpower: true independent left/right data

2INpower measures both legs separately. It suits riders who want detailed bilateral analysis for training, technique and performance tracking.

Explore 2INpower cranksets →

Our first recommendation for most road riders remains INspider 2.0: total power, rechargeable battery, modularity and broad compatibility. INpower focuses on cost; 2INpower measures each leg separately.

Your 2026 Rotor questions

Frequently asked questions

Is INspider 2.0 the version currently sold by Velo-Perso?

Yes. The current INspider ROAD units in our selection are version 2.0. V1 has been removed from our current selection. Check the model designation and product page when ordering.

Does INspider 2.0 measure left and right legs independently?

No. INspider measures total power at the spider and estimates left/right balance. For true independent measurements from both legs, choose Rotor 2INpower.

Can I fit INspider 2.0 to my existing VEGAST or ALDHU cranks?

Yes, with compatible Rotor arms and mounting interfaces, including selected VEGAST, ALDHU and ALDHU Carbon builds. Check the generation, spindle, spider and chainrings before ordering.

Can ROTOR cranksets work with Shimano 12-speed and SRAM AXS?

Yes, in selected configurations. Compatibility depends mainly on the chainrings and chain. Matching BCD dimensions alone do not guarantee drivetrain compatibility.

Should I choose a Rotor 24 mm or 30 mm spindle?

A 24 mm spindle can simplify installation on some bikes already fitted with Shimano-compatible bottom brackets. A 30 mm spindle allows light, stiff builds, but requires checking the BB standard, bearings, spacers and frame clearance.

Are oval Rotor Q-Rings better for every rider?

No. Some riders prefer them for climbing and steady efforts; others favour round rings, especially for sprinting. Choose based on how you ride, the crankset and the available OCP adjustment.

Which ROTOR crankset should I choose for track racing?

We recommend VEGAST Track for versatile club use and value, ALDHU Track for sprinting and high peak power, and ALDHU Carbon Track for pursuit. These builds require the correct Track30 spindle and a 144 mm BCD track spider.

How does INpower differ from INspider and 2INpower?

INpower measures left-leg power and extrapolates the total. INspider measures total power at the spider and estimates left/right balance. 2INpower measures each leg independently. For most road use, we favour INspider 2.0 for its features, value and modularity.

Should I use ANT+ or Bluetooth with INspider 2.0?

Both are supported. ANT+ was more reliable in our outdoor testing, so we recommend it for road head units. Bluetooth remains useful for compatible apps and indoor training.
