Three checks before buying a bottom bracket
Identify the frame standard
BSA, BB86, T47, BBRight, BB386EVO, PF30… The exact bike model and model year help identify the correct frame shell.
Identify the spindle
Shimano road and GRX cranksets generally use 24 mm spindles; SRAM DUB and QO use 28.99 mm; many Rotor cranksets use 30 mm.
Match the two
The frame determines the outer standard. The crankset determines the inner diameter. This combination determines the correct bottom bracket.
BB86 and PF86.5: what is the difference?
Here, they refer to the same road/gravel shell family: 41 mm internal diameter and approximately 86.5 mm width. The final bottom bracket then depends on the crank spindle.
Are T47, T47A and T47 Wide interchangeable?
No. The thread family is related, but shell width and bearing position differ. The exact variant must be selected.
Do SRAM DUB and QO use the same spindle diameter?
SRAM DUB and the relevant QO cranksets use a 28.99 mm spindle. Wide setups still require the specified spacers.
Why can a setup remain at 4/5 confidence?
Because one critical dimension still needs confirmation. In that case, the finder deliberately blocks automatic product recommendations and asks you to have the setup checked.
My bike is not listed: what should I do?
If you know the exact frame standard, use manual identification. Otherwise, send the exact model, model year and crankset to Velo-Perso before ordering.
I changed my crankset: do I need a different bottom bracket?
Not always, but often if the spindle diameter changes. Moving from Shimano 24 mm to SRAM DUB / QO 28.99 mm generally requires a different bottom bracket.
Compatibility checked on September 16, 2026. For a future model year or a new frame generation, always confirm that the manufacturer has not changed the standard.
