INPEAK POWERCRANK-E Shimano Dura-Ace FC-R9200
The POWERCRANK-E Shimano Dura-Ace FC-R9200 follows a simple idea: add clean, discreet power measurement to an already coherent Shimano setup instead of replacing components that do not need replacing. The measuring unit is integrated into a genuine Shimano left crank and total power is estimated from the left leg. This approach is especially relevant for racing, premium road builds, climbing and discreet integration.

Velo-Perso's view
On a Dura-Ace build, retaining the original Shimano crankset is even more compelling: you keep the look, low weight and premium shifting quality while adding power measurement. We would choose the rechargeable version for a bike ridden very frequently, and the CR2032 version for maximum autonomy and the simplest possible field service.
Why this power meter makes sense on Dura-Ace
On a Dura-Ace build, retaining the original Shimano crankset is even more compelling: you keep the look, low weight and premium shifting quality while adding power measurement.
INPEAK follows a different logic from a full crankset replacement: instrument the setup that already works first. You retain Shimano fit and drivetrain behaviour and, with SINGLE versions, the existing bottom bracket and chainrings. For many bikes, this is the shortest route from “I want to train with watts” to “the bike is ready”.
Single-sided measurement: simple, effective and transparent
A single-sided meter measures deformation at the left crank and doubles that contribution to estimate total power. For pacing a climb, following FTP, controlling endurance intensity or comparing fitness from week to week, this architecture is often more than sufficient. Its limitation is transparent: if your natural left/right balance changes with intensity or fatigue, estimated total power may be slightly high or low. That is exactly where TWiN2 becomes relevant for riders who genuinely need bilateral analysis.

From displaying watts to using meaningful data
A power meter becomes valuable when it helps you make better decisions on the bike. At first, the simplest approach is to display power averaged over a few seconds so you do not react to every instant fluctuation. On a climb, that makes it easier to hold a sensible target and avoid going too hard in the opening minutes; on flat roads, power lets you compare effort despite wind; during endurance rides, it helps stop an easy session from gradually drifting too hard.
After the ride, the perspective changes: trends matter more than one isolated number. Best 5-, 20- or 60-minute power, time in zones, heart-rate drift, consistency on a known climb and FTP evolution become much more informative than average speed. The meter becomes a long-term measurement tool rather than a simple watt display.
Velo-Perso tip: use the same meter as your reference when tracking progress. A small difference between two measurement systems matters less than good repeatability from week to week.
Compatibility: what to check before ordering
This version is built around the Shimano Dura-Ace FC-R9200. You keep the existing right crank, chainrings and bottom bracket on the bike. The selected crank length must obviously match the bike configuration. As with any sensor located on the inner face of a crank arm, also check clearance between the INPEAK module and the left chainstay. This matters particularly on wide-chainstay gravel and MTB frames.
Important: do not order from the groupset name alone. Check the exact crank model, crank length and inner clearance next to the left chainstay. If you are unsure, Velo-Perso can help validate the setup before ordering.
Rechargeable battery: claimed 90-hour runtime
POWERCRANK-E uses an integrated 110 mAh Li-Po battery charged through the supplied magnetic USB cable. INPEAK specifies up to 90 hours of use and roughly two hours for a full charge. This avoids opening a battery cover and suits a bike used frequently. Low-battery notification, automatic sleep and automatic wake-up keep everyday maintenance light.
Data and technical specifications
INPEAK specifies ±2% accuracy, a 20–2000 W power range, 20–200 rpm cadence range, ATC active temperature compensation and IP67 protection. ANT+ and Bluetooth Low Energy make the meter compatible with the main GPS head units and training applications. The INPEAK MANAGER app is used for firmware updates and sensor management.

Accuracy: consistency over time matters most
INPEAK's claimed ±2% accuracy sits in the expected range for a serious training power meter. In practice, you should avoid comparing different measurement locations watt for watt: pedals, crank arms, axles, spiders and smart trainers can naturally report slightly different values. For tracking progress, repeatability matters most: use a consistent protocol, keep the sensor maintained, firmware updated and perform zero-offset calibration when appropriate.
This is especially relevant if you use several bikes or also train on a smart trainer. If two devices differ slightly but remain stable, it is usually more useful to understand that offset than to force them to match artificially. The real goal is to read months of training history against a consistent reference.
INPEAK or Rotor: two different approaches, not duplicates
At Velo-Perso we do not position INPEAK as a Rotor replacement. INPEAK is strongest when the bike already has an excellent Shimano crankset and the main objective is to add power with the fewest changes possible. Rotor becomes particularly attractive when the project is also about crank length, gearing, complete-crankset weight, axle choice or oval chainrings.
| INPEAK POWERCRANK-E | Rotor alternative | |
|---|---|---|
| Priority | Add watts to the existing Shimano crankset | Optimise the whole crankset |
| Installation | Keep Shimano bottom bracket and chainrings | Rotor Aldhu / Aldhu Carbon + INspider platform |
| Measurement | Single left side | Total power measured at the spider |
| Weight / modularity | Very few parts need replacing | Rotor makes sense when complete-system weight, lengths or gearing are priorities |
| Choose it if… | You are happy with your Shimano crankset | You want the crankset to evolve as a complete system |

An electronic component to own for several years
A power meter is not a consumable. Ideally it should stay on the bike for several seasons, receive firmware updates and remain serviceable if something goes wrong. This is an important part of why INPEAK fits the Velo-Perso catalogue: design and manufacturing in Poland keep the manufacturer close within Europe, with a structured range and support tied directly to the product. That matches the way we prefer to work — fewer anonymous references, deeper knowledge of the setups we sell, and meaningful support after the purchase.
