A carbon crankset combining low weight, aerodynamics and outstanding finish
With the QO RACE, QO has not simply designed a lightweight carbon crankset. Particular attention has been paid to the integration of the spider, chainrings and crank arms in order to create a complete system that is very light, visually clean and aerodynamic.
At Velo-Perso, we weighed a complete 165 mm / 50-34 crankset at just 571 g. This places the QO RACE very close to a Rotor ALDHU Carbon in terms of weight, while offering an even more integrated and particularly modern appearance.

A level of finish that genuinely makes a difference
A particularly clean integrated spider
This is probably one of the most successful details of the QO RACE. Once installed, the spider and chainring assembly offers an exceptionally clean outer face, with virtually no visible hardware.
This is not only an aesthetic choice. It also creates a smoother surface around the crankset and allows QO to work simultaneously on low weight and aerodynamic integration.
Compared with the Rotor ALDHU Carbon
In terms of weight, the QO RACE sits very close to the Rotor ALDHU Carbon, which remains one of our benchmark high-end carbon road cranksets.
The QO takes a different approach to design, however. Its spider is more fully integrated and the crank arms feature more sculpted shapes, giving the complete crankset a more contemporary aerodynamic character.

571 gWe carried out our own weighing of a QO RACE 165 mm crankset fitted with 50/34 chainrings.
This figure is particularly meaningful because it corresponds to a real, complete crankset ready to be installed, rather than a theoretical estimate or the weight of only part of the assembly.
Actual weight may naturally vary by a few grams depending on crank length and chainring combination.
50/34, 52/36… and importantly, 54/40
The QO RACE is available with three chainring combinations: 50/34, 52/36 and 54/40.
The availability of a 54/40 option is particularly interesting for riders using Shimano Ultegra 12-speed groupsets who want a more race-oriented gearing configuration.
It provides an opportunity to retain a Shimano 12-speed drivetrain while accessing a chainring combination more commonly associated with top-tier racing equipment, together with a very lightweight carbon crankset.
29 mm axle: we recommend Bikone bottom brackets
The QO RACE uses a 28.99 mm axle, corresponding to what is commonly referred to as the DUB / 29 mm standard.
On a bike originally equipped with a Shimano 24 mm crankset, switching to the QO will therefore usually require replacing the bottom bracket.
For this application, Velo-Perso recommends Bikone bottom brackets. They have been tested and approved for use with QO cranksets and provide an excellent match in terms of axle fit and manufacturing tolerances.
There is also no need to automatically choose a ceramic model. A Bikone steel-bearing bottom bracket, generally around €70 depending on the frame standard, already represents an excellent solution.
On many bikes originally supplied with relatively basic Shimano or SRAM bottom brackets, this replacement can even be considered a meaningful mechanical upgrade rather than simply an additional cost required by the new crankset.

Velo-Perso's view
One of the most interesting carbon road cranksets currently available
We find the QO RACE particularly convincing because it does not simply chase the lowest possible number on a weight chart.
At 571 g in our own measurement, it is already comparable in weight with some of the best carbon solutions on the market. Its real personality, however, comes from its level of integration: a very clean spider, minimal visible hardware, flowing shapes, modern crank arms and genuine attention to aerodynamic design.
We also appreciate the breadth of configurations available: 160 to 175 mm crank lengths and 50/34, 52/36 or 54/40 chainring combinations.
Combined with the correctly selected Bikone bottom bracket, the QO RACE creates a system that is lightweight, reliable, beautifully finished and mechanically coherent.
In our view, it is a genuine alternative to a Rotor ALDHU Carbon or a high-end Shimano crankset, with a more modern and distinctive aesthetic identity.
