SPATZWEAR 2026 COLLECTION · COOL / RACE
The feel of a race glove, with a clever answer to the wind
Gloves that feel perfect at the start can be inadequate on a long descent or exposed road. The Spatz GLOVZ2 Race are for cyclists who want fine control at the handlebars with an extra layer of wind protection when it matters. They are the lightest of the three Spatz 2026 models featured here.

THE SPATZ APPROACH
Bring out the wind protection only when you need it
GLOVZ2 Race have two fold-out wind-blocking covers hidden at the back of the hand. Deploy them as temperatures fall or the headwind becomes unpleasant; stow them to restore the full freedom of a five-finger glove. Compared with the original GLOVZ design, the new two-cover arrangement offers more ways to adapt.
ON THE ROAD

THE VELO-PERSO GUIDE
Velo-Perso.com’s view
GLOVZ2 Race show why we rate Spatz so highly. A cycling glove must do more than feel warm in the shop; it has to block the airflow that strips warmth from your fingers as you ride. The fold-out system makes these a great choice for cool days, training and faster sessions.
However, we would not treat the +1°C lower figure as a promise of comfort during three hours of endurance riding in fog. Even at 2°C, a long ride without sunshine can call for a much warmer pair. That is when we would choose THRMOZ2 or, in truly demanding conditions, THRMOZ XTRM.
Choosing gloves for winter riding
Temperature
The stated temperature range is a guideline, not a comfort guarantee.
Sunshine or fog
At 2°C, hours in fog can feel much colder than a sunny ride.
Ride duration
At the same temperature, hour two may call for warmer gloves than hour one.
Spatz suggest GLOVZ2 Race for +8 to +1°C depending on conditions. These are our choice for cool weather, not our first choice for long, wet, deep-winter rides. Owning two complementary pairs makes far more sense: GLOVZ2 for milder days, THRMOZ2 or XTRM when rides are colder or longer.
You avoid overheating on warmer days and losing feeling in your fingers when conditions turn.
FIND YOUR FIT
Choose the right size before you ride
Measure your palm circumference as shown on the chart. GLOVZ2 Race are offered in S, M, L and XL. A close fit improves bar feel, but avoid squeezing your fingers: good circulation matters in cold weather.
Frequently asked questions
Are GLOVZ2 Race deep-winter gloves?
They are primarily for cool and moderately cold conditions. For long, damp rides around freezing, we favour THRMOZ2 or THRMOZ XTRM depending on cold sensitivity.
Can I still operate the shifters with the covers deployed?
The design adds wind protection to a five-finger glove; stow the shells whenever you need maximum direct dexterity.
Are GLOVZ2 Race waterproof?
Spatz promote their wind protection and fleece insulation, but do not claim the waterproof membrane specified for THRMOZ2 and XTRM.
* Spatzwear temperature ranges are indicative. Comfort varies with wind, humidity, riding intensity and individual cold sensitivity.
