ROTOR UNO 12-speed 11-46 cassette – last pieces available

The ROTOR UNO 12-speed 11-46 cassette provides a particularly useful gear range for gravel, 1x drivetrains and MTB, while retaining compatibility with a standard Shimano HG freehub body. This makes it particularly interesting when you want a wide-range 12-speed cassette without converting your wheel to Micro Spline.

Final availability: 11-46 only

We are now down to the last pieces of this ROTOR cassette. The 11-46 is the only version still available from Velo-Perso.com. The 11-36, 11-39 and 11-52 versions are no longer available. If the 11-46 matches your drivetrain, we recommend ordering while these final pieces remain.

Before ordering: check your freehub body
✓ Shimano HG
Compatible. This cassette uses the traditional Shimano HG spline interface. This is one of its main advantages if you want to upgrade to a wide-range 12-speed drivetrain while keeping a wheel fitted with an HG freehub body.
✕ Shimano Micro Spline
Not compatible. Micro Spline uses a different freehub spline design and this ROTOR cassette cannot be installed on it.
✕ SRAM XD / XDR
This cassette is not designed for SRAM XD or XDR freehub bodies. A Shimano HG freehub body is required.
HG and HYPERGLIDE+: two different things

Shimano HG refers here to the interface used to mount the cassette onto the freehub body. HYPERGLIDE+, on the other hand, refers to Shimano's tooth profiling and shifting-ramp technology. The ROTOR cassette therefore fits a standard HG freehub body, but it is not a Shimano HYPERGLIDE+ cassette: ROTOR uses its own tooth and shifting-ramp design.

Our recommendation for the 11-46

We strongly recommend a 12-speed YBN chain with 126 links

We have tested different chains with the ROTOR UNO 11-46 cassette at Velo-Perso.com. In our tests, 12-speed YBN / Yaban chains gave us the best overall shifting results, particularly when moving across the largest sprockets of the cassette.

Our first choice is the ROTOR UNO / YBN 12-speed chain – 126 links , or another equivalent YBN / Yaban 12-speed chain with 126 links. The 126-link length is also particularly useful with an 11-46 cassette, as wide-range drivetrains often require a longer chain than conventional road setups.

Currently available version
  • 12-speed
  • 11-46T
  • Shimano HG freehub
  • 294 g manufacturer figure
  • Gravel / 1x drivetrain / MTB
Important: road derailleur capacity

An 11-46 cassette exceeds the official capacity of conventional Shimano 12-speed road rear derailleurs, including Dura-Ace, Ultegra and 105. It therefore requires a suitable wide-range rear derailleur. Always check your derailleur's maximum sprocket capacity before ordering.

Why choose 11-46?

The 11-46 provides a very wide range without going as far as the largest MTB cassettes. It is especially well suited to gravel and 1x drivetrains where you need both a useful high gear on faster sections and a low climbing gear for steep gradients.

ROTOR UNO 12-speed cassette range

The ROTOR UNO 12-speed cassette was produced in several ratios. Only the 11-46 version is still available from Velo-Perso.com.

Our recommendations for an 11-46 setup

  • Freehub body: use a Shimano HG freehub. This cassette is not compatible with Micro Spline, XD or XDR.
  • Rear derailleur: make sure your derailleur is genuinely designed to accommodate a 46-tooth sprocket. Conventional Shimano road rear derailleurs do not have sufficient official capacity.
  • Chain: our clear preference is a YBN / Yaban 12-speed chain with 126 links. These are the chains that gave us the best shifting performance during our tests with the ROTOR UNO 11-46 cassette.
  • Gravel: 11-46 works particularly well with a 1x drivetrain, giving enough top-end gearing for faster road sections while retaining a genuinely low climbing gear.
  • Chain length: an 11-46 cassette can require more links than a conventional road cassette. A 126-link chain gives you enough length to size the chain correctly for most wide-range configurations.

Building a complete drivetrain?

With an 11-46 cassette, the choice of crankset, front chainring, chain and wide-range rear derailleur all need to work together. Use our tools and guides to check your gearing before ordering.

Velo-Perso.com's view

We are now down to the last ROTOR UNO 12-speed cassettes in 11-46. In our opinion, this is one of the most useful ratios in the range for gravel and 1x drivetrains: it provides a genuinely wide gear range while retaining a standard Shimano HG freehub body. Make sure, however, that your rear derailleur is genuinely designed to handle a 46-tooth sprocket. We have tested different chains with this cassette and obtained our best shifting results with YBN / Yaban 12-speed chains. Our preferred option is therefore the ROTOR UNO / YBN 12-speed chain with 126 links, or another equivalent YBN / Yaban 12-speed 126-link chain.
