The Rotor 2INpower SL crankset in the spidering version is the lightest dual measurement power meter from Rotor. Available in 5 spidering sizes, it combines the lightweight features of the cranks and the power meter with the reduced weight of the spidering, achieved through machining the chainrings and spider into a single piece. This crankset is positioned as a professional measurement tool, ideal for those who hesitate with Aldhu Carbon Inspider but prefer aluminum cranks for more precision. You'll particularly appreciate its long-lasting battery and Rotor-specific data such as 360° torque.

The choice that makes the difference

48/32 or 48/31? Our advice for 11s and 12s drivetrains

The 2INpower SL Spidering is especially relevant when a conventional 50/34 compact chainset is still too demanding on steep mountain roads. Smaller inner chainrings help maintain a comfortable cadence and keep your effort under control on prolonged climbs.

Our preferred choice for 11s
48/32

Mountain-friendly without losing versatility

The 32T inner ring gives you a useful lower gear when the climb seems endless. This is our preferred setup for 11s road drivetrains, subject to front derailleur clearance, capacity and adjustment.

Our preferred choice for 12s
48/31

Even easier gearing for long alpine climbs

A 31T inner ring lets you maintain a higher cadence at lower climbing speeds. We favour this combination with 12s road drivetrains, once front derailleur capacity and setup have been checked.

Important: 48/32 and 48/31 are not exclusively restricted to 11s and 12s respectively. Both can be used with either drivetrain generation when the chain, front derailleur and full installation are compatible. These are our recommendations, not absolute restrictions.

All five available gearing combinations

48/3248/3150/3452/3653/39

Each combination is offered in round (NOQ) or oval Rotor Q-Rings versions, depending on the selected variant and current availability. The familiar 50/34, 52/36 and 53/39 sizes cater to more conventional road riding; here, the outstanding benefit remains a genuine dual-sided power meter in a remarkably light complete crankset.

Rotor's Spidering combines the spider and both chainrings into a single machined assembly. Changing gearing or replacing worn rings means replacing the Spidering assembly.

Machined in Spain

Premium CNC aluminium. Not a heavy crankset by default.

The 7075-T6 aluminium crank arms are extensively CNC-machined. The power-meter technology, 30 mm spindle and rechargeable battery are integrated into the crankset architecture rather than attached as bulky external components.

The direct-mount Spidering reduces intermediate parts and creates a clean finish suited to both a mountain bike build and a performance-oriented road race bike.

Velo-Perso scale measurement: Rotor 2INpower SL Spidering crankset, 170 mm arms and round 50/34 chainrings, weighing 709 grams
Our real scale measurement · complete crankset, 170 mm crank arms, round 50/34 Spidering.

Velo-Perso workshop measurement

709 g

A measured weight — not a marketing estimate.

We weighed the complete crankset at 709 g with 170 mm crank arms and a round 50/34 Spidering. This includes the chainrings, rather than quoting the weight of the crank arms or sensor alone.

This makes the 2INpower SL a highly competitive option for anyone seeking independent power measurement on both legs without a substantial weight penalty.

Actual weight depends on crank length, chainring size and round versus oval design. Our measurement should not be applied to every variation.

Velo-Perso.com's opinion

Our pick for combining lower gears and true left/right analysis.

“This is the only crankset in our range, and one of the few on the market, to combine highly accurate independent left/right power measurement with Spidering combinations smaller than a conventional 50/34 compact. To us, that is its strongest selling point.

We generally recommend 48/32 for 11s and 48/31 for 12s, although both setups can work with either drivetrain when correctly configured. With more traditional gearing, the 2INpower SL becomes less distinctive in terms of chainring choice — but its low weight remains exceptional among true dual-sided crankset power meters.

The substantial 250-hour claimed battery life and the quality of the machined crank arms make it an excellent choice for high mountains and ultra-distance riding: keep your cadence comfortable, pace your efforts by power and minimise unnecessary weight.”

2INpower SL vs INspider 2.0: what really changes?

Rotor 2INpower SL Spidering

Truly independent left and right measurement

The system measures the effort from the left and right legs separately. It can help you track power balance and how it changes with intensity, ride duration or fatigue.

  • Independent left and right power measurement
  • Power balance and pedalling metrics
  • Claimed ±1.5% accuracy and up to 250 h battery life
Rotor INspider 2.0

Total power measured at the spider

INspider measures the total power transferred through the spider and can provide an estimated left/right balance. It does not measure the legs independently, but remains an excellent solution for pacing and overall power analysis.

  • Total power measured at the spider
  • Wide range of modular Rotor crankset setups
  • Claimed ±1.5% accuracy and up to 350 h battery life
Our advice: do not confuse manufacturer-stated accuracy with measurement architecture. Both systems claim ±1.5% accuracy. The 2INpower SL's added value is its genuinely independent left/right data — not a magically better headline accuracy figure.

Frame compatibility, bottom bracket and setup

01 · Frame

Identify your frame standard

BSA, ITA, BB30, BB86/PF86, BB386EVO, BBright, PF30, PF30A or T47: several installations are possible, but a compatible frame standard does not automatically guarantee a trouble-free fit.

02 · Crank spindle

Allow for a 30 mm spindle

The 2INpower SL uses a 30 mm spindle. If you are replacing a 24 mm Shimano crankset, check the correct bottom bracket for your frame, shell width and required spacers. Narrow BB86 shells deserve particular attention.

03 · Drivetrain

Check the front derailleur

Small Spidering combinations require careful front derailleur height, capacity and adjustment checks. The 48/31 has a 17-tooth difference between rings; the actual installation must be validated before ordering.

Find a suitable bottom bracket for your bike and 30 mm spindle with the Velo-Perso Bottom Bracket Finder. Effective 11s / 12s road-drivetrain compatibility also depends on the chainrings, chain and front derailleur configuration.

Frequently asked questions

What to know about the 2INpower SL Spidering

Should I choose 48/32 or 48/31?

We generally favour 48/32 for an 11s road drivetrain and 48/31 for 12s. Either size may work with either generation, depending on the complete installation and front derailleur.

Are all five combinations available in round and oval?

The Spidering range covers 48/32, 48/31, 50/34, 52/36 and 53/39 in round NOQ or oval Q-Rings versions, subject to the variants offered and stock availability.

Does every configuration weigh 709 g?

No. This is our measured weight for a complete 170 mm crankset with a round 50/34 Spidering. Other crank lengths and chainring combinations can change the weight.

How is 2INpower different from INspider?

2INpower measures each leg independently. INspider measures total power at the spider and can estimate left/right balance. Both claim ±1.5% accuracy.

Can I replace my Shimano crankset with it?

Often, yes — but Shimano road cranksets generally use a 24 mm spindle while the Rotor uses 30 mm. Check the frame and select the correct bottom bracket.

Why is it well suited to ultra-distance cycling?

True dual-sided data can help pace longer efforts, smaller gearing supports a comfortable cadence, the claimed 250-hour battery life reduces charging stops, and the complete system stays light.
